Matched chimney systems

The part you should never improvise.

KALM Flames specifies the fireplace and its complete flue route together—from the visible room connector to the protected passage and weatherproof roof terminal.

System architecture

One compatible route, end to end.

The appliance connector, insulated chimney, supports, weathering and terminal are selected as one compatible system. Exact dimensions follow the fireplace instructions and the building assessment.

Black single-wall flue connector01
Visible room connectorA single-wall connector is used only where the appliance and flue instructions permit it, with the specified clearance to combustible materials. It must not be used as an unprotected passage through walls, ceilings or roof spaces.
Insulated twin-wall stainless-steel chimney section02
Insulated chimneyTwin-wall sections carry the flue through protected ceiling, roof and external zones.
Black roof flashing for a chimney penetration03
Supports and weatheringCompatible supports, flashing and storm collar secure and weather the route.
Fixed stainless-steel chimney rain cap04
Roof terminalA terminal suited to the appliance and roof exposure completes the system.
Manufacturer-backed specification

Built as a system, not a collection of guesses.

These supplier catalogue photographs show the component families used for planning. Steel grade, thickness, insulation, diameter and connection method are confirmed against the final compatible system before quotation.

Compatible families

Every joint belongs together.

Straight sections, bends, tees, adaptors, supports and the terminal are selected from one connection system rather than mixed casually.

Diameter and route are project-specific.

Common circular fireplace sizes range from 100 to 250 mm. Built-in braais use a section matched to the gather and route. Neither is reduced without engineering confirmation.

Straight through the roof

A practical starting point for a standard single-storey home.

The planning kit combines visible connector pipe, the approved transition, insulated chimney, locking bands, ceiling finish, roof weathering and a compatible cowl.

Hardware only. Diameter, component count and flashing type depend on the chosen fireplace, ceiling height and roof construction. Installation, access equipment, offsets, adaptors and building work are assessed separately.

Each card uses a real supplier catalogue photograph. The exact diameter, finish and matching connection are confirmed in the project quotation.

Black single-wall flue pipe

Single-wall pipe

The visible connector between the fireplace and the insulated-system transition.

Mirror-polished insulated twin-wall chimney pipe
02

Insulated chimney

Insulated chimney sections still require their specified air gaps, supports and approved penetration components. Insulation does not permit contact with combustible construction.

Stainless-steel chimney adaptor and diameter transition
03

System adaptor

A compatible transition joins the room connector to the insulated system.

Stainless-steel insulated flue bend
04

Controlled bend

Creates a measured offset where the route cannot remain perfectly vertical.

Stainless-steel insulated 90-degree flue bend
05

90° bend

Used only where the selected system and installation design allow it.

Insulated stainless-steel tee with removable clean-out cap
06

T-piece and clean-out

Turns an external route upward and provides controlled access below the junction.

Stainless-steel locking band and pipe joint
07

Locking band

Secures compatible sections at their designed connection.

Adjustable stainless-steel chimney support bracket
08

Support bracket

Carries and aligns the chimney at the support points calculated for the route.

Stainless-steel wall bracket for an external chimney
09

Wall bracket

Stabilises an external rise at the specified intervals.

Black pitched-roof chimney flashing
10

Roof flashing

Selected for the roof material, pitch, temperature and chimney outside diameter.

Black storm collar for a chimney penetration
11

Storm collar

Sits above the flashing to help shed water around the penetration.

Fixed stainless-steel chimney rain cap
12

Rain cap

A compatible terminal helps protect the open flue from direct rainfall and debris.

Alternative route

Through the wall, cleanly and proportionately.

Where a straight roof route is unsuitable, the system turns through the exterior wall, rises on a supported tee and terminates above the roofline.

Visible finishes

Choose the finish deliberately.

These are real photographed component families. Coating, steel grade and the finish available for the selected diameter are confirmed with the final system.

Roof terminals

Choose a real cowl for the real requirement.

Rain protection, a compact conical terminal and wind-driven extraction are different products. KALM confirms compatibility, flue shape, roof exposure and maintenance requirements before supply.

01

Fixed rain cowl

A non-moving terminal where direct rain and debris protection are the main requirement.

02

Conical terminal

A compact fixed terminal selected only where its outlet design suits the appliance and route.

03

Wind-driven rotary cowl

Specify a rotary terminal only when its manufacturer confirms suitability for the fuel, flue-gas temperature and chimney system. A general roof-space ventilator is not a substitute.
